A dozen people were taken to hospital after two boats collided on Okanagan Lake near the William R. Bennett Bridge in Kelowna Wednesday night, according to B.C. Emergency Health Services (BCEHS).
BCEHS says it received a call around 8:40 p.m. PT and sent seven ambulances, along with additional units and a supervisor.
Spokesperson Bowen Osoko said 12 patients were transported to hospital, five of them in stable condition and seven in good condition.
Central Okanagan Search and Rescue said in a Facebook post that the crash happened south of the bridge. It said RCMP determined all passengers were accounted for while the Kelowna Fire Department removed the damaged boats from the area to ensure public safety.
CBC News has reached out to RCMP and the fire department for more information.
