Hello! I’m Jenna, your morning live page writer.

In case you missed it: last night, U.S. President Donald Trump signed an executive order imposing a 25 per cent tariff on all finished vehicles imported into the U.S. starting April 3. The same duty could be applied to some autoparts within weeks, and perhaps all parts eventually.

The news rippled across the campaign trail.

Mark Carney put on his prime minister hat and flew back to Ottawa last night, where he’ll convene a Canada-U.S. relations cabinet committee meeting this morning at 10 a.m. ET.

Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre said that Trump needs to “knock it off” with the trade war, adding the “unnecessary interruptions” are hurting people on both sides of the border.

And NDP Leader Jagmeet Singh said Trump’s latest move is an attack on autoworkers. He called for retaliatory tariffs on the U.S.

We’re keeping our eyes peeled for more reaction today.
