From the (not really) worlds of Doctor Who, dug up from the depths of the New Adventures and the Wilderness Years (a barren TV-less time ruled by novels and audio dramas), Bad Crew Theatre is proud to present an adaptation of Lawrence Miles’s masterwork of science fiction: Dead Romance.
The Great Houses are lords of time, and they have turned their gaze on Earth. You won’t find a TARDIS, but there’s plenty here that’s bigger on the inside. There’s no Doctor or plucky young companion. There’s only a 22 year-old coke head and her genetically augmented boyfriend. Of course their relationship only lasts a fortnight as the world ends on October 12th, 1970.
Her name is Christine Summerfield and she lives a small and aimless life. She wants to matter. She wants to be important. She’s too big for the tiny world she lives in, or at least, that’s what she thinks. When a man from the stars comes down to show her everything she’s been missing, Christine thinks that she’s finally found her place. As the secrets of the universe are revealed, and Christine sees beyond the walls of her world, she begins to realize just how small everything really is.
