According to an RCMP media release, Lethbridge N.L. residents in the Bayview area have been ordered to evacuate immediately due to a fire near Sexton Lumber sawmill on Route 233.

RCMP and Ground Search and Rescue are responding in the area.

Route 233 is impassible in both directions to all traffic and the RCMP are asking residents and motorists to follow direction from first responders.

The province’s Department of Forestry and the local fire department are responding.

The Triple Bay Eagles Ground Search and Rescue also said in a post on social media that they are on scene to assist with the evacuation.

A resident in the area says two waterbombers have been working on the fire this afternoon.
