Ten children are injured, two critically, after a vehicle drove into a daycare in Richmond Hill on Wednesday, police say.

The incident happened around 3 p.m. in the area of Yonge Street and Nottingham Drive, south of Gamble Road, York Regional Police said in post on social media.

Police said two children were taken to hospital in life-threatening condition.

Parents are asked to go Thornbush Court, a nearby street on the north side of the building.

Police are asking people to avoid the area and to expect significant delays.

Yonge Street will be closed from Gamble Road to Brookside Road.

Police are expected to provide an update shortly.
