Seven months after a crash killed four students and their teacher who were returning home to Walkerton, Ont., from a high school softball tournament, police say they’ve concluded their investigation and no charges will be laid.

They also said no further details will be provided into what happened on May 24 when the vehicle carrying the five collided with a transport truck and then an SUV at an intersection with a two-way stop east of London.

“Following a comprehensive review of all evidence and circumstances, it’s been determined that no charges will be laid in relation to this incident,” Ontario Provincial Police Sgt. Ed Sanchuk said in a video posted to social media Tuesday.

The deaths of Olivia Rourke, Rowan McLeod, Kaydance Ford and Danica Baker, and their teacher Matt Eckert left their community shaken with grief. In the days after the crash, a large memorial was held at Walkerton Community District School.

“The OPP would like to extend its deepest condolences to the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in this tragic event. Our thoughts remain with them during this time,” Sanchuk said.

The driver of the transport truck and the two people in the SUV suffered minor injuries.
