U.S. authorities have released more details on dozens of high-end motorcycles believed to belong to Ryan Wedding, the former Canadian athlete now accused of running an international drug ring.

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) says the motorcycles, which were among the items seized in raids in Mexico City and the surrounding state of Mexico, have an estimated value of $40 million US ($54.7 million Cdn).

Last week, Mexico’s Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection said multiple agencies carried out raids on four homes linked to a suspect whose description matched Wedding’s.

Other items seized included two vehicles, artwork and what Mexican authorities described as two Olympic medals.

Two medals and artwork are pictured in a composite photo.

Wedding, who was born in Thunder Bay, Ont., competed in snowboarding for Canada at the 2002 Olympics but did not medal. He was added to the FBI’s list of most-wanted fugitives in March.

Last month, the FBI in Miami seized an ultra-rare Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR Roadster, estimated to be worth $13 million. A CBC News investigation found the car had been purchased by Rolan Sokolovski, a Toronto jeweller identified by U.S. authorities as one of Wedding’s chief money launderers.

Two images of same man, one that looks like a mugshot and another of him, staring at the camera while lying shirtless in bed revealing a tattoo of a lion on left part of his chest.
Although the government’s statement didn’t identify Wedding by name, the raids were seemingly linked to the hunt for the Canadian fugitive. (U.S. Embassy in Mexico, FBI Los Angeles/X)

He is believed to be on the lam in Mexico.

U.S. investigators have also previously hinted at Wedding’s possible connection to the Mexican capital and the nearby state of Mexico.
