TPS posts letter urging inspector general for review
Demkiw has followed through on promises to share a letter TPS sent Wednesday to the province’s inspector general of policing.
The letter requested the inspector general to specifically investigate issues like supervision, substance abuse and access to information systems within the police force.
Police also requested the review to consider whether certain issues will warrant recommendations for all police forces, not just Toronto.
It noted that an independent review would help identify areas for improvement and improve public safety.
The letter, posted on the TPS website, is signed by Demkiw and Shelley Carroll, chair of the Toronto Police Service Board.
