If small ship cruising has been on your radar, the wait for 2027 could be worth it. Tauck, one of North America’s most respected luxury travel companies, has just announced its 2027 small ship cruise portfolio. It’s a compelling mix of new destinations, expanded capacity on sold-out favourites, and deeper cultural immersion.
A brand new Baltic itinerary that’s filling out fast
The headline announcement is Tauck’s return to the Baltic Sea cruise circuit after a long absence. The new 12-day Cruising the Baltic Sea itinerary sails aboard Ponant’s Explorer-class ship Le Champlain, carrying fewer than 160 guests. Travels to Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallinn, Gdańsk, Copenhagen and the island of Visby, among others.
Priced from USD $12,990 per person (double occupancy, airfare additional), it’s firmly in the premium tier, but the inclusions justify it. Highlights include an exclusive dinner at Stockholm’s iconic Vasa Museum, visits to Estonia’s Memorial to the Victims of Communism, Poland’s European Solidarity Centre, and UNESCO-listed old towns accessible only to smaller vessels. A dedicated onboard lecturer accompanies every sailing.
For Canadians with Scandinavian heritage or a growing appetite for cooler-climate destinations, this itinerary deserves serious attention.
Mediterranean and Iberia — More departures for high-demand routes
Two perennially sold-out itineraries are getting expanded capacity for 2027, which is good news for Canadian travellers who’ve been waitlisted before.
The 14-day Aegean Voyage: Athens to Istanbul (from USD $13,490 per person) adds two new departures, running April through October. After overnight stays in Athens and Istanbul, guests board Windstar’s intimate 312-passenger yacht Star Legend for an eight-night cruise through the Aegean. Ephesus, Santorini, Delphi and a private dinner in ancient Ephesus are among the highlights.
Similarly, the 13-day Treasures of Spain and Portugal itinerary (from USD $10,490 per person) is adding two new departures and introducing select sailings aboard Windstar’s all-suite Star Legend.
From Lisbon to Barcelona, the itinerary blends coastal cruising with cultural immersion — Seville, Granada, Palma de Mallorca, and a series of Tauck-exclusive experiences most travellers never get access to. For Canadians already eyeing travel to Spain in 2026 or 2027, this is a strong option worth bookmarking.
Galápagos and Peru get a serious upgrade
Tauck’s Hidden Galápagos & Peru itinerary (from USD $17,990 per person) returns with meaningful upgrades — most notably, all internal flights now operate as fully private charters. Guests embark from Quito before boarding the exclusive Silver Origin expedition ship, carrying no more than 40 Tauck guests through the archipelago.
The land programme now includes a stay in Lima’s upscale Miraflores district and a stay at a restored 16th-century Augustinian convent in Cusco. For luxury expedition cruise travellers, this remains one of the finest itineraries in its class.
In total, Tauck will offer 22 small ship cruises in 2027, including two family-oriented Tauck Bridges itineraries. Reservations open in March.
