A teacher and former Bloc Québécois member of Parliament has been arrested for allegedly committing sexual offences against two minors, Quebec City police said Tuesday.

Pascal-Pierre Paillé, 47, is expected to appear in a Quebec City courtroom later today. The alleged incidents date back to 2006 — before his election to the House of Commons — and as recently as August 2024.

Police say the 2006 events occurred between Jan. 1 and June 25 in Quebec City. Paillé faces charges of sexual exploitation and sexual assault involving a teenager over whom he was in a position of authority.

The Centre de services scolaire des Découvreurs confirmed he was employed by the school service centre at the time.

Paillé is also charged with sexual contact and sexual assault involving a second person under the age of 16. Those allegations stem from incidents in August 2024 in Quebec City.

The accused represented the riding of Louis-Hébert for the Bloc Québécois from 2008 to 2011.

His current employer, the Centre de services scolaire de la Capitale, said Paillé has been suspended from his teaching duties since Feb. 2.
