Getting to Montréal airport during the peak travel season will be faster and easier with the launch of the new Montréal airport bus REM, beginning on June 17. The shuttle promises a smoother traffic alternative for many travellers who face difficulty every year.
The new shuttle bus ‘Route 815’ will directly link REM’s Montréal–Trudeau International Airport with REM’s Des Sources station, offering what officials are calling a more reliable and quicker way to travel during one of the busiest periods of air traffic.
“Our critical traffic period is the summer”
Jérôme Conraud, Vice President of planning, strategy and sustainable development for the airport authority, said that during summer “…we have two million passengers who come to the airport each month.”
The airport area is within a reconstruction project that is expected to last until 2031, due to the demolition and rebuilding of a multi-level parking lot. This work has revamped the road network to double its capacity for vehicular traffic.
The ‘Route 815’ schedule
Buses will run every 30 minutes. However, during peak traffic hours at the YUL, i.e., from 1 pm to 8 pm, the service frequency will spike to every 15 minutes.
- From Des Sources station, the first departure will begin at 5.45 am, from Monday through Sunday, and the last departure will be at 10.44 pm.
- From YUL, the first departure will be at 6 pm, Monday through Sunday, and the last at 10.29 pm.

A direct link for the Canadians to beat airport traffic
Anyone who has travelled to Trudeau Airport during peak times knows the challenges posed by delays, construction and congestion. This new route is designed for cutting through the chaos.
The highlights of new services:
- Service is running all 7 days of the week until October 19
- Travel time is about 15 minutes to 20 minutes
- Buses run every 30 minutes, and during peak hours, they run every 15 minutes
- Route synchronized with REM schedules, enabling seamless passenger transfer without long wait times
Officials say that the new shuttle will provide:
- A congestion-free alternative to driving

Until the opening of the long-awaited REM rail-link to the airport, the shuttle is set to fill a major gap in public transport.

For now, this service is a pilot project which runs through early fall and the entire summer. But when the demand is strong, it can influence how the future airport connections are designed in the city.
Transport authorities are already closely monitoring performance and ridership, with the possibility of adapting and extending this service if it proves successful.
