Turns out there’s one villain Spider-Man can’t beat: ridiculously hot chicken wings.
Tom Holland, 30, appeared on recent episode of the viral YouTube series Hot Ones alongside Jon Bernthal, 49, his co-star from The Odyssey and the upcoming Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The two took on the show’s infamous challenge of answering questions between bites from a lineup of increasingly fiery wings.
Holland made it through all 10 rounds, but the real challenge came after the last bite. The actor became the first guest in the show’s 11-year history to vomit during an episode.
At the end of the show, as the two were filming footage for its outro, things took a turn when Holland started coughing before briefly throwing up under the table. (Not to worry, though — it’s off-camera, so no stomach-churning visuals here.)

Bernthal went full hype man, roaring, “Let’s go! Let’s go! … Take a picture of it!”
Holland, with a smile on his face, was all for it. “You can use that!” he yelled up from the floor. “Look, Louis Vuitton — I got none of it on my clothes!”
When Bernthal asked host Sean Evans if that had ever happened on set before, Evans admitted it might be a first.
Holland’s reaction? A total good sport: “I love being the first! Can I see playback of that?!”
The last dab
The downfall started right before the infamous “last dab” — where guests douse their final wing in a dollop of the spiciest sauce of the segment. Holland and Bernthal decided to flex and try to eat the entire wing.
That’s when the regret set in.
“Oh my word … oh my word,” Holland gasped. Bernthal wasn’t doing much better: “I might throw up … there’s sweat coming out of my eyes.”
The two co-stars have quite the history. Aside from taking over the box office in two of this summer’s biggest blockbusters, they first shared the screen nearly a decade ago in the 2017 movie Pilgrimage, which was filmed while Holland was still a teenager.
On Hot Ones, through streaming tears, Holland managed to give a touching tribute to his longtime friend and co-star:
“As a young man coming up in this business, it’s so important to find people you can look up to. The way Jon is with his family, his kids, the way he approaches his work, and the way he’s been with me since I was a kid … it’s something I’m super grateful for. The tears are just my love for him.
“The fact that we auditioned for these movies together, took that leap of faith together, and now get to share this moment … it’s pretty awesome.”
The Odyssey — Christopher Nolan’s modern retelling of Homer’s Greek epic — became a quick success, bringing in over $260 million US dollars globally in its opening weekend. That’s the filmmaker’s highest grossing worldwide opening ever.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is out July 31.
