After the 41-year-old pop star slammed the Trump administration over the weekend for using her song Firework in a TikTok video about military strikes against Iran, the White House appeared to taunt her by posting another video, this time set to her 2012 hit Part of Me.
The administration also spliced footage from the song’s video — of Perry dressed in military fatigues and holding an automatic weapon — between images of Donald Trump, military personnel and fighter jets.
The video is captioned “Now look at me” — a lyric from the song.
Trump aide Kaelan Dorr also posted the video on X, cheekily tagging the singer with: “Hi @katyperry” and a waving hand emoji.
After Perry criticized the White House’s use of Firework, Dorr on Monday posted a clip of the Part of Me video with her in fatigues, with the caption, “This you?”
The war of words began Thursday when the White House posted a nine-second video to its TikTok account that used Perry’s 2010 hit Firework behind grainy footage appearing to show recent U.S. strikes against Iran.
The blasts were synchronized with the lyrics, “Boom, boom, boom.” The video was captioned “Iran has been warned.”
Perry said on X she was “deeply appalled and angry” and that she did not approve or condone her music’s use, though she no longer controls the rights to that song, or others from her first five albums.
The music was later removed from that video.
Perry has not responded to the latest video.
Artists including Ariana Grande, Bruce Springsteen, Kesha, SZA, Sabrina Carpenter and Olivia Rodrigo have also slammed the Trump administration’s use of their music.
