New York City is rolling out the welcome mat for Canadians this summer, and this time it’s backing it up with real savings. Among the freshest NYC deals for Canadians this year is the newly launched “Northern Neighbour Deal,” running August 18 through September 7.
Announced yesterday by New York City Tourism + Conventions, it offers 30% off at more than 85 hotels, attractions, Broadway shows, and restaurants across the five boroughs. New York City Tourism + Conventions is the official destination marketing organization (DMO) and convention and visitors bureau (CVB) for the five boroughs of New York City. This move is being seen as a direct move to offset the currency exchange rate that’s kept many Canadians closer to home lately.
A slew of NYC travel deals to woo Canadians
Canada remains New York City’s second-largest international market, with over 820,000 Canadian visitors forecasted in 2026, a 3.1% increase over last year. However, this shouldn’t be seen in conjunction with the slump in broader travel in the US, which hasn’t yet come up to previous levels. In fact, the decline in Canadian travel to the U.S. is one of the biggest travel stories of this year.
“Canada has long been one of New York City’s most important international markets, and we are focused on strengthening that connection by making it easier and more compelling for Canadian travelers to choose NYC,” said Julie Coker, President and CEO of NYC Tourism + Conventions.

Porter airlines flights to New York – The deal that makes it work
Porter Airlines is sweetening the pot with up to 20% off all New York itineraries. But there’s a catch. To make the most of the NYC travel deals, your flights must be booked by August 7 for travel through December 15.
“New York was Porter’s first US destination in 2008, and it has remained our top international market every year since then,” said Edmond Eldebs, Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer of Porter Airlines.
“Canadians have always appreciated the diversity of experiences that New York City offers, which is unlike any other place in the world. Porter runs up to 91 weekly flights into the NYC area, landing at LaGuardia and Newark, with nonstop options from Billy Bishop Toronto, Toronto Pearson, Montreal Trudeau, and Ottawa — plus connections from other Canadian cities.

The 30% discount spans a genuinely broad list. Select participants include:
