After more than a decade of interviewing and flirting with movie stars, musicians and athletes while sharing some fried chicken, Amelia Dimoldenberg, the host of the popular YouTube talk show Chicken Shop Date, announced this week she’s closing up shop.
“To me the show is my very own romcom and I have loved creating so many stories for you to watch. I am so grateful to everyone who has followed me on this journey and found some joy in these episodes,” Dimoldenberg wrote in an Instagram post on Thursday.
“I never thought I’d stop Chicken Shop Date, I thought maybe it would be a part of me forever, and in some way it always will, but I feel like it’s now time to move on from this adventure and onto a new one.”
Dimoldenberg started the show 12 years ago, interviewing musicians in Britain’s underground rap scene. Since then, she’s gone on to chat with celebs, including Keke Palmer, Conan O’Brien, Paul McCartney and Jack Harlow and garnered close to 3.5 million subscribers to her YouTube channel.

Chicken Shop Date follows a simple format: Dimoldenberg goes on a date of sorts with a celebrity at a fried chicken shop in London and asks them a blend of questions that are flirty, funny and sometimes awkward.
It produces the type of banter you’d more likely expect on a first date than a typical sit-down, talk show style interview. In some cases, like her 2024 sit-down with Andrew Garfield, it’s led to what seemed to be some actual flirting.
“This is called flirting, Amelia, this is called flirting,” Garfield says at one point.

Dimoldenberg also has some Canadians among her dozens of interviews. That includes Ryan Reynolds, whom Dimoldenberg corrects when he gives the wrong name for the character his wife Blake Lively played on Gossip Girl.
“That is right, Brooke from Gossip Girl loves you,” Reynolds tells Dimoldberg, hinting at Lively’s fandom of her show. At that point, Dimoldenberg points out Lively’s character was named Serena.
“I don’t think there is a Brooke,” Dimoldenberg says.

Shania Twain also sat down for a date with Dimoldenberg in 2023, where Twain revealed that she’d never actually met Brad Pitt (despite mentioning him in her hit song That Don’t Impress Me Much).

The massive success of her YouTube channel has led to opportunities for Dimoldenberg outside the chicken shop, including working the red carpet at the Oscars this year, where she interviewed another Canadian, Hudson Williams.

It’s unclear what Dimoldenberg’s next move is after Chicken Shop Date, but it appears she has some irons in the fire. She’s currently signed on to develop a young adult drama series for the BBC, according to Deadline.
But in her goodbye post on Instagram, Dimoldenberg also promised “a few final dates” before ending the show for good.
