Canadian rock band Simple Plan is releasing a new picture book called I’m Just A Kid.
The book, named for the group’s popular song of the same name, will come out on March 9, 2027.
I’m Just A Kid tells the band’s story starting from their humble beginnings in their school talent show. Illustrated by Filipino artist Jomike Tejido, it’s about the power of friendship and how they never gave up on their dreams — and each other.
“As parents, reading bedtime stories to our kids was always one of our favourite and most sacred traditions,” wrote Simple Plan in a press statement.
“For that reason, writing this book has been an extremely fun and rewarding experience, and we’re so proud of how it turned out!”
Simple Plan is a Montreal-based rock band formed in 1999. They have sold over 10 million albums and are known for songs including Welcome to My Life, Perfect and Jet Lag. The group’s present lineup consists of Pierre Bouvier, Chuck Comeau, Jeff Stinco and Sébastien Lefebvre.
Comeau championed Homes by Abu Bakr al Rabeeah and Winnie Yeung on Canada Reads 2019.
The release of I’m Just A Kid coincides with the 25th anniversary of Simple Plan’s first album, No Pads, No Helmets…Just Balls!, and celebrates the band’s history and the fans who got them there.
“When we started the band, our fans were young teenagers and our music helped them get through difficult times,” they said.
“A lot of these fans are now becoming parents and it feels really special to connect with them in a whole new way as they enter this exciting new chapter of their lives.”
For every copy of I’m Just A Kid sold, the band will donate $1 to the Simple Plan Foundation, which gives back to charities that support young people in need.
