Stevenson supporters remaining hopeful
Susan Stevenson is currently behind incumbent mayor Josh Morgan in the polls with 26 per cent of the vote, while Morgan leads with 45 per cent. That hasn’t stopped some of her supporters from staying positive.
Monique Legault is at Stevenson’s election night party, having supported and volunteered for Stevenson throughout the campaign. As results started pouring in, she said she was hoping for the best.
“Let’s just say I’m praying hard for this,” she said.
Legault, who has been a longtime landlord in London’s Old East Village, said her support for Stevenson started during her term as Ward 4 Councillor.
“I’ve actually never paid so much attention [to an election] as I have this year,” she said. “I’m really concerned with the complete lawlessness that’s been taking place in Old East Village. It’s been very difficult for us.”
She said she has continued to support Stevenson because of her advocacy for the neighbourhood.
