What if your next holiday took you somewhere you had never considered before? While familiar destinations still attract Canadian travellers, some unexpected places are also enjoying the limelight.
Canadian tour operator G Adventures has revealed eight destinations to watch for Canadian travel trends 2027, based on a rise in bookings and changing travel interests. The list includes destinations where better flight connections, new visa arrangements and opportunities to experience local culture are encouraging more Canadians to look beyond the usual tourist hotspots. If you’re curious about where Canadians have been travelling this year, take a look at our article on Canadian Travellers’ Top Picks for 2026.
China and Central Asia are drawing more attention
China is seeing a notable return of interest among Canadian travellers, with bookings increasing by 83% year over year following expanded visa-free entry arrangements. In response, G Adventures has introduced nine new itineraries, including National Geographic Journeys and Signature trips.
One of the options is the 19-day Signature: China From the Great Wall to Shangri-La. The itinerary takes visitors to the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang and the historic Yumen Pass, with stays in desert lodges along the way. You can also plan your travel itinerary better with local travel advisors who also take into consideration your travel goals and plans. So, you get to experience the trip however you want.
Central Asia is also gaining ground. Bookings for Uzbekistan rose by 82%, while Kyrgyzstan recorded a 32% increase. The region has become the most-booked destination globally for G Adventures’ Signature collection.
The Stans: The Ultimate Silk Road Adventure takes travellers around Lake Issyk-Kul and through Tajikistan’s Fan Mountains. Local homestays and traditional yurt workshops give visitors a chance to experience everyday life and traditions in the region.
Growing interest puts Egypt and Norway in the spotlight
Egypt leads the list of Canadian travel trends 2027 in booking growth, with Canadian bookings jumping by 106%. The opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum and the upcoming total solar eclipse over Luxor on August 2, 2027, are among the changes bringing fresh attention to the country.
Solo travel is also contributing to interest. G Adventures reported a 16% increase in solo female travel bookings to Egypt. Its nine-day Solo-ish Egypt itinerary includes street food tours in Cairo and stays in Nubian villages. Planning a safe solo trip has also become easier with top-quality assistance from travel advisors nearby.
Norway has recorded a 23% increase in bookings. Interest in northern lights experiences, along with newly announced direct flights between Toronto and Oslo, is helping attract Canadian visitors.
Beyond its famous fjords and cruise routes, Norway offers opportunities to explore its landscapes on foot. The seven-day Norway Fjord Trekking itinerary includes glacier walks and guided hikes.
Vietnam, the Seychelles and Europe Offer new experiences
Vietnam is another destination to watch as a Canada-Vietnam air agreement paves the way for direct flights in 2027. G Adventures has added 15 itineraries, including the 16-day Classic Vietnam: Sapa to the Mekong, which combines trekking with local activities such as noodle-making and rice paper crafting.
In the Seychelles, travellers can look beyond the familiar resort experience. The eight-day Seychelles Geluxe itinerary covers Mahé, Praslin and La Digue, with opportunities for hiking, kayaking and catamaran sailing.
Greece is also gaining momentum. Rather than focusing on popular islands such as Santorini and Mykonos, G Adventures is directing attention towards northern Greece, where mountain villages and trails around Mount Olympus make the exploration of the country majestic.
The Balkans complete the list. Albania recorded a 51% increase in bookings, while Bosnia and Herzegovina saw a 16% rise. Traditional villages, mountain trails and family-run guesthouses are among the experiences drawing travellers to the region.
For Canadians considering a trip to one of these destinations, planning the right itinerary can make a difference. Travel advisors near you can help travellers choose places and experiences that match their interests, budgets and schedules.
New destinations on the Canadian travel radar
The eight destinations shed light on an interest in holidays that go beyond sightseeing and familiar attractions. Whether it is exploring ancient sites in Egypt, discovering mountain communities in Central Asia or experiencing local traditions in Vietnam, travellers have several new possibilities to consider.
With more itineraries being introduced and new flight connections expected in some regions, these destinations will be worth visiting as Canadians begin planning their 2027 holidays.
