Jason Sudeikis will return to the football pitch for a fourth season of Ted Lasso.

The show’s star and executive producer said on a Friday episode of the New Heights podcast that Season 4 is being written, and this time will have him coaching a women’s team.

Apple TV+ confirmed the acclaimed show’s return in a press release.

“Ted Lasso has been nothing short of a juggernaut, inspiring a passionate fanbase all over the world, and delivering endless joy and laughter, all while spreading kindness, compassion and unwavering belief,” Matt Cherniss, head of programming for Apple TV+, said in a statement.

“Everyone at Apple is thrilled to be continuing our collaboration with Jason and the brilliant creative minds behind this show.”

Ted Lasso‘s X account made its first post in nearly a year and a half, posting early Friday morning: “Finally found the dang password to this thing. Sorry y’all. What’d I miss?”

The comedy-drama follows its titular character, an American college football coach, who is hired to coach fictional English Premier League soccer team AFC Richmond, and makes up for his lack of experience with optimistic leadership.

Sudeikis offered a statement in Apple’s press release that may offer a hint at details about the upcoming season.

“We all continue to live in a world where so many factors have conditioned us to ‘look before we leap,” he said. “In season four, the folks at AFC Richmond learn to LEAP BEFORE THEY LOOK, discovering that wherever they land, it’s exactly where they’re meant to be.”

Developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence, Joe Kelly and Brendan Hunt, Ted Lasso debuted in 2020 and broke a record as the most Emmy-nominated comedy series in its first season.

Its first two seasons won back-to-back outstanding comedy series Emmys.

Fans had been speculating about a possible fourth season since the third, and what some assumed would be final, season wrapped in May 2023.

Apple says Season 4 will add Jack Burditt (Nobody Wants This, Modern Family, 30 Rock) as an executive producer.
