Semi-Precious is an exploration of connection, identity, and the search for validity through self-expression. Set in a dreamlike world shaded in lilacs and plums, the play centres around two women drawn together by a profound need to be seen and understood, both as artists and as people. As their relationship develops, we witness how artistic expression, as a vital language of the soul, can be a source of both strength and vulnerability as they navigate the uneven, sometimes painful nature of intimacy. Ultimately, the piece invites audiences to reflect on the courage it takes to embrace one’s voice and the empathy that allows us to recognize the humanity in each other.
