Leadership day has arrived
Eight weeks and six days after Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced his plans to step down, the Liberal Party is set to announce who will become the party’s newest leader.
Whoever wins the leadership race will take the party into a new era of Canadian politics — not only one without Trudeau for the first time in over a decade, but one to be challenged by an unpredictable Trump administration.
The end of the leadership race also means a federal election could be right around the corner.
CBC News has special coverage of the leadership event starting at 4 p.m. ET.
We’ll be updating this page throughout the night, so keep this tab open. I’m a senior writer with the national desk at CBC News on tap tonight to bring you the updates as they happen.
