WARNING: This story references allegations of sexual assault.

British comedian Russell Brand pleaded not guilty on Tuesday to new counts of rape and sexual assault.

Brand, already facing similar charges involving four women, denied the new charges when he appeared in Southwark Crown Court. The alleged incidents date back to 2009, the Crown Prosecution Service said.

In April, Brand, 50, was charged with two counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault and one count of indecent assault.

Prosecutors said the allegations involve four women and date back to between 1999 and 2005 — one in the English seaside town of Bournemouth and three in London. Brand pleaded not guilty to those charges in a London court earlier this year.

A trial is scheduled for June and expected to last four to five weeks.

A hearing will be held next month to decide whether the new allegations should be joined to that case, with Brand’s lawyer saying his client needed more time to address the latest offences.

On Tuesday, Brand arrived at court wearing a white cowboy hat and sunglasses. Asked how he was feeling, Brand, who said in 2024 he had become a Christian, told reporters he’s “blessed.”

Brand was a regular on British screens in the 2000s. He was known for his flamboyant style and appearance, and worked as a radio presenter for the BBC.

The Get Him To The Greek actor, known for risqué standup routines, has had battles with drugs and alcohol, and dropped out of mainstream media in recent years. He built a large following online with videos mixing wellness and conspiracy theories, as well as discussing his religious devotion.
