The search for a missing plane flying from Canada’s East Coast to Greenland has entered its second day.

Naviair, a Danish state-owned company providing air traffic service, told CBC News it received a report around 4 p.m. local time Saturday that a single-engine aircraft had gone missing.

On Sunday, Naviair confirmed the missing plane is registered under an American company and was flying from Happy Valley-Goose Bay, N.L., with one person on board.

The search resumed Sunday by boat. The aerial search has been delayed because of low-hanging clouds. Search efforts were suspended Saturday night due to poor visibility and bad weather conditions.

Crews are concentrating on the Sermitsiaq mountain area, situated 15 kilometres northeast of Nuuk, Greenland’s capital city.

The town of Happy Valley-Goose Bay, located in central Labrador, is roughly 850 kilometres northwest of St. John’s. The Labrador Sea separates Labrador from Greenland.
