Signed and framed Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon jerseys were stolen from a Halifax bar on Tuesday night and the owner is considering a reward to get them back.

Big Leagues Brew Pub shared video footage of the theft on its Facebook page.

“I want somebody punished for it. You know, I couldn’t sleep at all last night. I watched the video about 10 times and it was just extremely upsetting—just coming in, my property and just ripping it right off the wall with no respect whatsoever,” Jamie Latter, the owner of Big Leagues, told CBC News in an interview on Wednesday.

The theft came just hours before MacKinnon, Crosby and the rest of the Canadian men’s hockey team defeated Czechia in the Olympic quarterfinals on Wednesday.

“Somebody came in last night, backed up to the door, three minutes before closing and one guy with a mask jumped out, came in and grabbed one jersey, put it in the vehicle, came back, ripped the other one off the wall and they sped away. No license plate on the car, we called 911,” Latter said.

Latter said he got the jerseys at an auction in Cole Harbour, where both Crosby and MacKinnon grew up.

He estimates the signed Pittsburgh Penguins and Colorado Avalanche jerseys are worth $3,000 to $4,000.

Latter said the framed jerseys were bolted to the wall near the entrance to the bar with special security brackets.

“I believe [the thieves] must have come in one or two times before and started loosening [the] brackets,” Latter said. “You couldn’t have just went up and ripped them off the wall.”

Latter says Big Leagues has been busy lately with customers coming in to watch the Olympics. He said it’s not likely the jerseys will be back before the hockey semifinals on Friday, but he’s hoping he’ll eventually be able to replace them.

Latter said a similar incident happened at his Big Leagues location in Cole Harbour. He said he offered a reward and had a person’s name in 24 hours.

“I didn’t get my property back, but they were charged,” he said.
