Parts of Cape Breton could see 100 centimetres of snow between Sunday and Monday, according to CBC meteorologist Ryan Snoddon.
Inverness and Victoria counties could see snowfall amounts in the range of 25-50 centimetres, but up to 100 centimetres is possible in the Cape Breton Highlands.
Pictou and Antigonish counties can also expect snowfall in the range of five to 10 centimetres with winds between 70-90 km/h.
Snoddon warns that visibility will be limited with the snow and blowing snow and that driving conditions could be impacted.
Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for Inverness and Victoria counties.
The rest of the island could see up to 15 centimetres. Environment Canada has also issued a wind warning for Richmond and Cape Breton counties.
