The University of Ottawa campus is on lockdown due to what it calls a “violent threat.”
The university posted the lockdown notice on social media on Friday evening, instructing students to stop all activities and to shelter inside a building.
“If a violent attacker is close by, be ready to run, hide or, if your life is in imminent danger, defend yourself by any means necessary until you can get away,” a statement on the university’s website reads.
Line 1 of the LRT is currently skipping uOttawa station, according to OC Transpo.
The Ottawa Police Service confirmed an active investigation is ongoing at the university but have provided few other details.
In a post on social media, the OPS said there is an increased police presence on Nicholas Street and Laurier Avenue as officers investigate “a suspicious incident.”
Police added that no injuries have reported.
Paramedics told Radio-Canada that they had not received any calls for an incident at the university.
More to come.
