Air Transat is expanding its Caribbean network with a new nonstop route between Montreal and Barbados. Direct flights will be operating between Montréal–Trudeau International Airport and Grantley Adams International Airport on December 13, 2026.
Barbados’ new route forms part of Air Transat’s wider winter 2026-2027 expansion strategy. Alongside this, the carrier is introducing nonstop flights from Montreal to Aruba and Los Cabos as demand for warm-weather travel continues to rise among Canadian travellers.
The new connection strengthens Barbados’ airlift network from Canada during the peak winter tourism season. Canada remains one of the key visitor markets, with Montreal serving as an important gateway for travellers from Quebec and other eastern Canadian regions.
Ian Gooding-Edghill, Barbados Minister of Tourism and International Transport, said, “This new service from Air Transat reflects the continued demand for Barbados within the Quebec market.”
The expanded nonstop service is expected to improve travel convenience for Canadians looking for direct Caribbean vacations. Increased seat capacity could also support stronger tourism arrivals to Barbados during the busy seasonal period.
Air Transat’s New Montreal–Barbados Flight Route Details
The airline company will use Airbus A321LR aircraft on the Montreal (YUL) to Bridgetown, Barbados (BGI) route. This expansion is expected to add more long-haul capacity between Canada and the Caribbean gateways. The new nonstop flight service will operate twice weekly on Wednesdays and Sundays.
