American Airlines is making its cross-border network stronger with the launch of two new American Airlines Canada routes from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York, offering travelers direct access to Québec City and Calgary during the business fall and summer travel season.
The airline will begin non-stop service to Québec City Jean Lesage International Airport on 5th August, followed by flights to Calgary International Airport on 6th August 2026. The expansion underlines America’s continued investment in Canada’s growing business and leisure travel market.
The new route includes:
American Airlines plans to operate:
- Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft on the Calgary route
- Embraer E175 aircraft on the Québec City route
- Tri-weekly flights between Calgary and New York JFK
- Daily flights between Québec City and JFK
The Calgary service is currently scheduled to run through the early phase of October, while the Québec City route will operate through mid-October.
American Airlines Canada routes – why these destinations matter
Calgary remains a crucial gateway to Banff National Park, the Canadian Rockies, and Alberta’s outdoor tourism sector. The new route offers New York-area travelers better access to one of Canada’s most popular adventure destinations.
Meanwhile, Québec City continues to attract visitors with the UNESCO-listed Old Town, French Canadian culture, historic architecture and festivals. The city is widely considered one of North America’s most distinctive cultural destinations.
Part of American Airlines’ broader Canadian expansion
The new American Airlines Canada routes build on the carrier’s current growth in the north of the border. In recent years, the airline expanded services to Calgary from New York LaGuardia and Charlotte while adding connections from Fort Worth/Dallas to Québec City.
This expansion also complements American Airlines’ partnership with Porter Airlines, helping strengthen the connectivity between Canada and the United States. The addition of Québec City and Calgary services reflects ongoing demand for cross-border tourism and travel. With direct access from JFK, the new American Airlines Canada routes are expected to provide more convenient options for both business and leisure travelers heading to two of Canada’s most popular destinations.
