Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter Vivienne wants to legally remove “Pitt” from her last name. She’s the latest of their six kids to legally file to drop their father’s surname.
According to documents obtained by CBC News, she filed a petition with the Los Angeles County Superior Court to change her legal name from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie.
She signed the request on July 12 — her 18th birthday — and filed it Monday. The reason for the change is listed as “personal.” Under California law, turning 18 allows her to do this on her own without parent or guardian approval.

In that time, Jolie alleged Pitt grabbed her by the head and shook her, choked one of their children and struck another when they tried to defend her. A representative for Pitt denied the allegations. An FBI statement said it conducted a review of the circumstances and did not pursue further investigation.
After over a decade together and two years of marriage, their protracted divorce was officially finalized in 2024.
Pitt has been public about his issues with alcohol and efforts to quit drinking, which he says began in 2016. He has credited Alcoholics Anonymous with helping him stay sober for nearly a decade.
He has not been seen in public or photographed with any of his kids for years, unlike Jolie who is often seen with them on carpets and speaks about them in interviews.
CBC News reached out to Pitt’s representation for comment but hasn’t received a response.
A hearing for Vivienne’s request is set for Nov. 2, and was originally set for Oct. 30.
