A Calgary man has been arrested and charged in connection with allegations he threatened to kill Prime Minister Mark Carney.
Jamie Dacosta, 31, faces one count of uttering threats.
According to RCMP, its National Security Enforcement Team (INSET) received information in July that a YouTube account had posted a death threat against the prime minister.
Court records show the date of the alleged offence against Carney was between July 25 and July 26, 2026.
Dacosta is currently in custody and is set to make a court appearance in Calgary on Tuesday.
He also has several other, unrelated charges before the courts, including extortion, three counts of uttering threats and wearing a disguise with intent, all connected to allegations involving an automotive business.
Dascosta applied for bail on all of the charges against him, but was denied release last week by Justice Clarissa Pearce.
