Every Year After, the Prime Video streaming series based on Carley Fortune’s blockbuster romance novel Every Summer After, has been renewed for a second season.

The second season of Every Year After will be based on One Golden Summer, the second book in Fortune’s series based in Barry’s Bay, Ont.
In One Golden Summer, Sam’s brother (and fan-favourite character) Charlie gets his long-awaited chance at love.
The story follows Alice, a photographer seeking a quiet, restorative summer at her childhood cottage with her grandmother. But her plans for peace are upended when Charlie — charming, flirtatious and impossible to ignore — unexpectedly reappears. Soon, Alice finds herself feeling like she’s 17 again, questioning whether this summer might hold something more than she ever expected.

Carley Fortune is a Toronto-based journalist and bestselling author who has worked as an editor for Refinery29, The Globe and Mail, Chatelaine and Toronto Life. Her books include Meet Me at the Lake, Every Summer After, One Golden Summer, This Summer Will Be Different and Our Perfect Storm.
Meet Me at the Lake was a finalist on Canada Reads in 2024 when it was championed by fashion content creator and model Mirian Njoh — making it the first romance novel to ever appear on the show.
