Some Toronto wards to get new councillors, CBC projects
Some wards in Toronto have elected new representation at city council.
It looks like Mike Layton is headed back to city hall. He’s projected to win in University-Rosedale, meaning he’ll likely serve on council with his stepmother Olivia Chow, who’s been re-elected mayor. Layton was previously councillor for the ward from 2010 to 2022.
Progressive housing advocate Diana Chan McNally is projected to replace Gord Perks in Parkdale-High Park. The ward was an open race after Perks announced he would not run earlier this year.
In Toronto Centre, Curran Stikuts is projected to beat incumbent Chris Moise. Stikuts was endorsed by local MPP and long-time councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam, who previously threw their support behind Moise in the 2022 election.
Over in the city’s east end, former TDSB Trustee Sara Ehrhardt is projected to take Toronto-Danforth. Ehrhardt frequently campaigned with former councillor Paula Fletcher, who bowed out of the race at the last minute.
Former Liberal MP Nate Erskine-Smith is projected to win Ward 19, Beaches East York, where mayoral candidate Brad Bradford previously held the seat before running for mayor.
