Putting the Caribbean island into the spotlight

August 19, 2026 Team Contributor

Anguilla, the scenic island in the eastern Caribbean Sea famed for its 33 white-sand beaches, including Shoal Bay and Meads Bay, has an update.

Since July 1, 2026, appointed by the Anguilla Tourist Board (ATB), Jesson & Company Communications Inc. is working as the Public Relations, Sales & Marketing Agency of Record in Canada.

The partnership will boost ATB’s efforts to strengthen destination awareness, travel trade engagements and media relations. In what represents Anguilla’s second-largest source market, ATB has enlisted Jesson & Company Communications to deepen destination awareness.

Drawing on the island’s established brand recognition, the agency will bring focused narrative strategy alongside compelling media outreach, sales efforts, trade collaborations, and marketing initiatives.

Putting the Caribbean island into the spotlight

Cardigan Connor, the Minister of Health, Tourism and Sports, said, “We are so pleased to be working with Jesson & Company Communications again as Anguilla approaches its next winter travel season riding a wave of positive momentum and perception.”

He further added, “There are few agencies with as much expertise in the sector, and we are confident their familiarity and passion for the destination will help them create new opportunities among Canadians seeking an elevated and perfected Caribbean experience.”

Working alongside industry partners, the initiative aims to expand Anguilla’s brand presence and visibility across the Canadian market. Canada’s tourist arrivals stayed nearly flat in 2025 (+0.03%), while Canadian excursionist (day-trip) numbers grew.

The exciting partnership comes as Anguilla continues to pursue its strategic positioning in the Canadian market. Jesson & Company Communications will support media relations, travel trade engagements, content development, and marketing initiatives across Canada, working directly with journalists, influencers, travel advisors, and industry partners to expand awareness of Anguilla and its brand across Canada.

Anguilla and the Canadian connection

Tucked among the Leeward Islands, Anguilla has long charmed tourists as one of the Caribbean’s most sought-after destinations. There’s a lot on offer. Gifted with 33 pristine beaches, a culinary scene that draws praise from travellers worldwide, and a collection of luxury hotels, resorts and villas that cater to discerning visitors.

The appointment arrives at a pivotal moment for the island. Anguilla welcomed 90,017 total visitors in the first quarter of 2026 alone, marking its strongest Q1 performance in 34 years.

Canada, in particular, has emerged as a standout growth market: stayover arrivals from Canadian travellers jumped 40% year over year, climbing from 2,138 in Q1 2025 to 2,993 in Q1 2026.

That momentum is set to build further. Starting December 19, 2026, a new weekly Saturday flight will connect Toronto Pearson International Airport to Anguilla via Providenciales in the Turks and Caicos Islands. This opens a more direct route for Canadian travellers and gives the island a much-needed boost in the market.

“Canadians are increasingly looking for new horizons in both the traditional winter travel season and the offseason, and what they crave more than anything when selecting a destination is authenticity,” said Barbara Jesson, CEO and Founder of Jesson & Company Communications Inc. “Anguilla is rich in both experience and culture, and we look forward to sharing more compelling stories from the destination through our Public Relations and Marketing efforts.”

The appointment reflects the Anguilla Tourist Board’s continued focus on strengthening its presence in Canada. As ATB advances its long-term growth strategy, the partnership will support stronger consumer awareness, travel trade relationships and media visibility, reinforcing Anguilla’s positioning as one of the Caribbean’s premier luxury destinations.

“In Anguilla, we work closely with our stakeholders and partners on-island to deliver a world-class visitor experience, “said Jameel Rochester, Director of Tourism at the Anguilla Tourist Board. “With this Canadian partnership, we are strengthening our connection with a market where Anguilla’s luxury, authenticity and warm hospitality strongly resonate.”
