A network outage affecting Telus customers is disrupting phone and wireless services in multiple areas across Ontario, Alberta and B.C., with some unable to call 911 on mobile, the company says.
An outage was reported at around 9:40 a.m. ET on Thursday in southwestern Ontario, according to the company’s website.
“Services are currently experiencing a disruption impacting mobile devices, which may affect your ability to reach emergency [911] services,” Telus said.
The Windsor Police Service said the Telus network outage has caused intermittent issues with its non-emergency line, but noted that Windsor’s emergency line remains unaffected.
CBC News has reached out to Telus for additional comment, but did not immediately hear back.
In eastern Ontario, Telus reported interruption resulting in outbound call failures to landlines that began around 9:14 a.m. ET on Thursday.
Telus said it is looking into the cause of the widespread disruptions.
In B.C., wireless, home phone, 911 landline, internet and TV have been affected, according to Telus. Several of the listed outages were reported months ago, while some began this month.
Outages were reported across Alberta as well, with disruptions to home phone, landline 911, and internet and TV services.
Earlier, an outage linked to a damaged cable was reported in parts of Quebec, but it appears to have since been restored.
