Toronto police are seeking the public’s help in finding one of the suspects in a home invasion in the Bridle Path neighbourhood earlier this week.

A 23-year-old Toronto man has been identified as a suspect wanted in connection with the investigation, Insp. Kristy Smith said at a news conference Saturday morning.

The man walked into a Toronto hospital with a gunshot wound on Thursday, after it’s believed he was accidently shot by one of the other suspects during the home invasion, she said.

Anyone with details about the man or his whereabouts are urged to contact police, Smith said.

“[The man] was shot in the right shoulder and as such he may be experiencing pain or discomfort in that area and people may look to see him favouring that side of his body,” she said.

On Thursday morning, officers responded to reports of a “violent home invasion” at a residence near Hyde Park Circle and Post Road, Toronto police said.

Police said three suspects, armed with handguns and a hammer, forced their way into the home, made demands for valuables and attacked four adults in the home — a 75-year-old father, 64-year-old mother and their 26 and 28-year-old daughters.

David Morton, CEO of real estate services company MAC Group, said three members of his family are recovering in hospital after they were shot during the home invasion. All four members of the family were also attacked with a hammer, he said in an emailed statement issued Friday.

“No family should ever have to experience this,” he said, adding the family is traumatized and recovering after the attack on Thursday.

On Friday, police requested the public’s help to identify and locate the three suspects, who fled the area in a dark coloured SUV.

The suspects are described as men in their 20s wearing dark clothing and face masks. All three men are considered to be armed and dangerous, police said.
