A festival filled with dancing, laughter and people of all ages suddenly erupted into chaos on the evening of July 11.
Gunshots rang out amidst a crowded street at Salsa on St. Clair, a popular street festival that celebrates Latin culture, food and dance.
Several people recounted the panic and fear moments later with many running away or hiding in nearby businesses.
The shooting, which police have said was targeted, injured five people and led to the deaths of Shaquan Quashie, 25, and Cesar Vernaza, 20.
Toronto police said there were nearly 13,000 people gathered at the event that day. They said two firearms were located in the area and that the victims were known to one another.
