Quebec’s viral electric rock duo — known for microtonality, math rock and hiding their identities behind black-and-white, polka-dotted full-body costumes — could be your next Halloween costume.

If you’re tired of dressing up as salt-and-pepper shakers, for a couple hundred bucks, you and a partner can snag Angine de Poitrine couple’s costume from Party Expert, one of Canada’s biggest party supply stores.

The costumes sold out online on Tuesday hours after articles about them hit the airwaves, but were restocked as of Wednesday morning. A sign that the avant-garde band’s popularity is growing too mainstream?

They’ve been hailed as an anti-AI symbol of human creativity, with fans championing their dedication to weirdness, from their droning electronic sound to their claim to be 333-year-old time-travelling aliens to their insistence on speaking in a made-up language when on camera or performing.

For $105 this Halloween, you can rock drummer Klek de Poitrine’s signature white look, while another roughly $105 gets your partner guitarist Khn de Poitrine’s signature black look.

The band declined to comment on the costumes when reached by CBC.

Hailing from Saguenay, Que., the duo first formed in 2019 and worked their way around the local underground scene before releasing their first album, Vol. 1, in 2024.

Their unusual style sparked buzz, but it was a live set performed in December 2025 at the Festival Trans Musicales in Rennes, France, that launched them into the stratosphere. The performance has racked up 20 million views on YouTube since being posted by KEXP in February.

They released their sophomore album, Vol. II, in April to widespread acclaim. Resale tickets for their 2026 tour climbed past $500, and they drew record crowds at festivals. And last month, they won the Polaris Album prize and the SOCAN Polaris Song Prize for Fabienk.

“We’re just two random people who enjoy playing together, and I feel we just took a wave, which was the right time at the right moment,” drummer Klek told The Canadian Press in July.

The description of the replicated Klek costume promises that any couple dressed up as the band is guaranteed “a memorable entrance at the office party or the costume contest, easy to spot among the witches, vampires and zombies.”

While the descriptions mention the artists by their aliases, the outfits are called “Black/White Polka Dot Attack Costume” and don’t give any indication that these are officially licensed costumes by the band.

Although the base costumes run $59.99, the matching masks/hats are an additional $44.99, making it a pricey pair of polka-dot pajamas. Khn’s iconic microtonal double-neck guitar is not included.

Some fans are going the DIY route. One Instagram user, itsnicolaclare, has received more than 17,000 views on a  July tutorial  for making a Khn costume.

Those who find the price tag a little much might better honour the spirit of Angine de Poitrine’s oddness by resorting to the beloved tradition of whacking together some spare clothes, some paint, some cardboard and a lot of artistic enthusiasm to make their own versions.

They look like alien puppets and they’re blowing music fans’ minds

Quebec math rock duo Angine de Poitrine is taking the music world by storm, with sold out shows across North America and Europe. Their elaborately bizarre masks and intricate, fast-paced music has made fans of top acts, from deadmau5 to Dave Grohl and Jack White.
